5v Buck Converter
The mini DC-DC 5V buck converter is a compact and efficient electronic module designed for voltage regulation in various applications. Its primary function is to convert a higher input voltage to a lower output voltage, making it particularly useful for powering low-voltage electronic devices.
In our scenario we'll be using it to power the MG90S servos as they need a voltage between 5-6v and our power supply of two 16340 batteries comes out to 6.4v-8.4v. So in order to not fry our servo we'll be setting this specific buck converter to 5v.
You'll notice on the bottom theres two pads soldered together labeled 5v and then a small cut at the bottom of the board. The cut removes the variable voltage option and the solder locks in that we want to use this at the 5v level. For your own projects you could alter this to output whatever voltage you need.
